Air purifier, or how to breathe deeply
Caps of snow resting on the tree branches and frost filling the air with icy needles – this is what we associate winter with since childhood. Recent years, however, have brought us a winter gift, one that everyone considers undesirable. It's toxic smog, which unfortunately spoils the image and atmosphere of winter. For now, the only effective weapon to combat it are air purifiers equipped with efficient HEPA filters.
The growing air purifier market now offers a wide range of advanced devices, priced below 1000 PLN. One of the top players is the NAC AP470-DN, which not only ensures the purity of the air we breathe at home or in the office but also features ionization and antibacterial functions.
How does an air purifier work?
The purifier is a true combination of filters that gradually remove dirt from the incoming air. The first to be targeted are solid contaminants, often visible even to the naked eye, such as animal dander, hair, and dust. The next barrier is a seasoned anti-smog HEPA 13 filter, which captures PM2.5 and PM10 particulate matter with 99,95% efficiency. Finally, the air is passed through a carbon filter, which removes organic pollutants (often carcinogenic or toxic) and eliminates odors.
The air released back into the atmosphere is saturated with negative ions, which bind to positive charges (emitted by household electronics such as computers and televisions, which also have the ability to attract bacteria and viruses) and fall to the ground. An additional benefit of the purifier is its UV lamp, which has antibacterial properties.
Is it worth buying an air purifier?
In today's world, conveniences like controlling the device via a smartphone app and numerous programmable functions (including operating time and airflow speed) are no longer surprising. The purifier automatically reports the air quality we breathe – the light ring around the display changes color depending on the level of pollution. We also don't have to remember when the HEPA filter needs to be replaced – we'll also receive automatic notifications when appropriate.
The NAC AP470-DN purifier is designed for rooms (i.e., apartments and offices) with a maximum area of 60 square meters. For smaller spaces (such as a room) not exceeding 15 square meters, you can consider a less advanced and much more affordable device, such as the NAC AP145-DN. The main differences, aside from lower efficiency, are the use of a HEPA11 filter, which is 95 percent efficient, and the inability to control the device via phone.
Smog will probably remain for a long time… So let’s give our lungs a gift and treat them to clean air from a purifier.
